some douche just posted this in the whitman livejouranl community. it made me want to die a little bit
hello, my name is Taylor and I'm currently college admissions crazed.
I know that these are probably the most annoying posts ever, but this is the only college community on lj that I've actually joined because I really am suddenly obsessed with Whitman.
That being said... what do you think my chances are?
Keeping in mind that I go to a preeeeetty competitive high school, I have a weighted gpa of 3.9 and an unweighted gpa of 3.5(AP spanish, AP english lit, regular physics, calc, AVID & Drama all four years ect ect.)
I'm very involved with my theater department, directing DTASC (drama festival in Southern California), acting in shows, and part of the drama board. I'm in a program called AVID. In addition to that, I'm in National Honors Society and CSF.
I'm in Mock Trial and in Speech & Debate, few small awards here and there.
(these lists are so weird to make... too many "I"s)
My sat scores are 600 reading, 640 math, and 690 writing. however, i'm retaking that on october 4th and I know my scores will be better because this time I will actually sleep before the test! (I did poorly on the ACT...)
If it helps me at all, I'm from California and Hispanic!
I realize scores aren't everything, but they're obviously taken into consideration, unfortunately... :(
I am considering applying early decision, but I don't know just yet.
but wow, Whitman seems so amazing and everyone I talk to who goes there just loves it. I really, really want that small liberal arts education. I've never been to Washington though. I would get an interview but with various activities, I just don't think I can make it out.
thannnnnk you so much!
and, what's your favorite part about Whitman?

x prize
The x-prize foundation was created to progress technology for the good of humanity. They pose challenges to the private sector with large cash prizes. The challenge I posted here is to make a super efficient car that could solve our energy crisis. You might remember one of their challenges where they offered a $10 million prize to the first team that could create a plane that could carry three people into space. The competition was completed by only one team and they were awarded the money. I think that this organization is amazing. This is a great way to motivate innovation.

This can't be for real...
Ok. So the premise of this website is that people have lame social lives after college (i.e. in their 5th year)...and need help planning fun events.

I think we really need this...
